Welcome

Welcome to the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) in Columbus, Georgia website. Here you will find information about the ATLS program, the courses offered here in Columbus, and other information that will hopefully be helpful in your search for an ATLS course.
The ATLS Program:
The American College of Surgeons (ACS), through the Committee on Trauma (COT) has been offering ATLS for twenty-five years. The program teaches the student the rapid initial evaluation and resuscitation of the acutely injured patient. The ATLS course will teach "one safe way" to stabilize and treat the trauma patient. ATLS is offered in over 40 countries and over half a million physicians have taken the course. Further information may be obtained by clicking on the ACS/ATLS link on the sidebar. The course has evolved over the years from simple lecture/skill station format to an interactive one where the student is expected to play a greater role in the lectures and demonstrations.
The Local Course:
Two to three courses a year are offered in Columbus. One course is provided primarily for the family practice residents at Columbus Regional. The faculty are local and regional physicians that have great interest in teaching and have undergone training to help make the student's experience an enriching one. The faculty consists of surgeons, emergency physicians, and family physicians with years of experience treating trauma patients.
The Facility:
The conference center at Columbus Regional offers a modern, comfortable learning environment. The lectures are held in a state-of-the-art facility with digital projection. Restroom and vending facilities are close at hand. Continental breakfast is offered both days with lunch provided in the physicians dining room as well.
Course Schedule:
Our next course is tentatively planned for October 6&7, 2005. We also plan to offer a course in March or April.
Fees:
Resident physician: $600 Non-resident physician: $800 Recertification: $500
The course director reserves the right to cancel or change the dates of the course for any reason without notice. Should this occur, your fee (minus book cost) will be refunded. A 25 percent penalty will be applied to cancellation by the participant up to the day of course. No refunds will be provided for "no shows". Class size is limited and positions are given on a "first-come, first-served" basis.
